The House That Dripped Blood

The House that Dripped Blood was one of the most entertaining of the Amicus anthology horror film series. It is well known that in other times, some people, whose nature was imbued with the romantic ...

One of the usual ideas that are discussed when talking about “good cinema” is to say that is the one that makes us feel emotions as an audience. The one that makes us forget that what is captured on the big screen are images recorded by a camera. When the set of elements of a film merge into a whole, getting our feelings to move from the theatre seat to a place where action takes place. That “suspension of disbelief” that is so much talked about in the film books on the other side of the ...

The edition of this latest CD from Rosetta Soundtracks is, primarily, an act of justice with the music of Iván Palomares, with both composer and his followers. I must confess that for me it means additional satisfaction, because it becomes a reason to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the beginning of my discovery of the music from a fundamental author in the spanish documentary production and one of the most relevant spanish composers, when it comes to preserving audiovisual music inherited ...

It’s more than a quarter of a century ago that The dark side of the heart premiered in the cinema screens, reaching a considerable critical and public success, and becoming the international spearhead for many other important Argentinian films that were to come in the following years. It was an original, innovative proposal, in which director Eliseo Subiela adapted poems from Juan Gelman, Oliverio Girondo and Mario Benedetti (who appeared in a pair of cameos, dressed as a sailor and reciting in German) in a ...

Disques Cinémusique reissues digitally the 45 rpm EP of the soundtrack to the movie L’Attico (1963) aka The Penthouse, composed and conducted by Piero Piccioni. L’Attico is another of those minor Italian movies which are forgotten today but whose music is still very attractive for the admirers of maestro Piero Piccioni (1921-2004). In 2013, Beat released a CD of this soundtrack that offered nothing else than variations of the six themes featured on the EP in a stereo version.
