In October 2021, Hollywood legend John Williams made his conducting debut with the internationally renowned Berliner Philharmoniker.
Join us to enjoy these magical and historic performances of his music, filmed live at the Berlin Philharmonie.
After opening with the Olympic Fanfare and Theme, commissioned by the Los Angeles Olympic Organising Committee in 1984, Williams and the Berlin players perform a wide-ranging selection of music from some of his best-known film scores.
From the futuristic sounds of Close Encounters to the instantly evocative opening notes of “Hedwig’s Theme” from77 the Harry Potter movies, via excerpts from Far and Away, Jurassic Park, Superman, and the Indiana Jones and Star Wars series, there’s something for everyone.
At the heart of the concert is a wonderfully moving performance of Williams’ Elegy, with the Berliner Philharmoniker’s principal cellist Bruno Delepelaire as soloist. Here, and throughout the concert, the mutual respect and understanding between conductor and orchestra are palpable.
This stream features the unabridged concert, complete with all tracks & encores, moderations, and introductions by John Williams.
Two CDs + Blu-ray. The history of film music would be different without John Williams. Cinema classics like 'Star Wars', 'Indiana Jones' and 'Harry Potter' are inextricably linked with his musical style.
His soundtracks captivate listeners with thrilling, moving themes and a tremendous range of atmospheres and sounds. John Williams conducts the greatest orchestra in the world.
Featuring completely new arrangements and repertoire all recorded in breath-taking Dolby Atmos sound.

“Thank you very much, ladies and gentlemen, for being with us tonight here in this magnificent hall, which is like a house of magic.
And I want to tell you what a privilege it is for me to be here with you in this hall, standing in front of perhaps the world’s greatest orchestra: the Berlin Philharmonic.
To be standing in front of this orchestra for any musician, however humble or great, to be here with you for these few moments is truly a great honor and a privilege.
And I’m so grateful for this invitation to be with you.” – John Williams
