The composer accepted his award in person at the event.
He has won one Academy Award for his soundtrack to the film ''The Grand Budapest Hotel'', and received eight additional Academy Award nominations, eight César nominations with three winning, seven BAFTA nominations with two winning, seven Golden Globe Award nominations (two winning), and six Grammy nominations (two winning ).
The composer also received the Golden Globe for ''The Shape of Water'' and is also up for an Academy Award.

Alexandre Desplat wins Golden Globe Best Score!
On Sunday Januari 7th 2018 Alexandre Desplat has received his second Golden Globe Award in the Original Score category for Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water.
He previously received a Golden Globe for his music to The Painted Veil. The other composers nominated in the Best Original Score category were Carter Burwell (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), Jonny Greenwood (Phantom Thread), John Williams (The Post) and Hans Zimmer (Dunkirk).
In the Original Song category, Benj Pasek & Justin Paul won the award for the song This Is Me from The Greatest Showman. They previously received a Golden Globe last year for writing the lyrics for City of Stars from La La Land.
