La Ronde (Circle of Love) by Michel Magne - The complete original soundtrack in stereo

Now available as download on iTunes, 7 Digital and Google Play. Shorter version available for streaming on Spotify and Deezer.

French composer Michel Magne (1930-1984) is renowned for his dynamic scores associated with the comedies of the 1960s and 70s. He also made his mark with romantic blockbusters like the Angélique saga. Magne’s contribution to La Ronde (Circle of Love) of 1964 unites these two facets of his talent. Far from claiming to the depth of the 1951 version produced by Max Ophüls, the glossy remake by Roger Vadim intends to be a light entertainment coupled with a celebration of female beauty. Jane Fonda, then wife of the director, is surrounded by some of the most attractive French actresses of the time.

Michel Magne seems to have taken great pleasure in dressing this boudoir fresco with themes that are sometimes perky, sometimes sentimental but always catchy. His melodic talent lends itself perfectly to the popular dance rhythms at the beginning of last century in Europe. The composer himself conducts a large, classical sounding orchestra. Of outstanding quality, the original recording benefits from both the natural acoustics of a concert hall and the refinements of a sterophonic recording that enhances all instruments. A treat for any music lover!

The complete original soundtrack is available only for downloading. A 16-bit/44,1 kHz (lossless) version can be found as usual on 7digital. For the streaming users, on Deezer and Spotify, a short version which corresponds to the EP 45 rps has been released.
