'Contamination' was released in 1980 as a soundtrack for the eponymous horror/science fiction film, during what probably was the most prolific period in Goblin's career, even if the band had already been abandoned by guitarist Massimo Morante and keyboardist Claudio Simonetti. Unkonwn by most listeners, it's a release that deserves more attention, since it shows a wide range of music styles (Jazz, funk, rock, electronic) and once again Goblin's ability in writing film scores.
The album was also 'filled' by the discographic label with songs from the 'Buio Omega' OST, which here see their first official release (fans will have to wait 1997 for a full CD release).

Prodotto in un periodo (1980) di attività frenetica per i Goblin, ormai orfani sia del chitarrista Massimo Morante che del tastierista Claudio Simonetti, 'Contamination' è senza dubbio tra i lavori della band che meriterebbe una maggiore attenzione, data la varietà di stili (jazz, funk, rock, elettronica) contenuti nei brani della colonna sonora, e la qualità della proposta.
Il disco fui inoltre 'riempito' dalla casa discografica con brani tratti dalla soundtrack di 'Buio Omega', che così per la prima volta trovarono pubblicazione ufficiale (per l'intera opera i fan dovranno aspettare l'edizione in CD del 1997).
