Vandaag heeft La-La Land records zijn 5 laatse soundtracks voor dit jaar aangekondigd. De titels zijn James Horner’s The Pagemaster, Dimitri Tiomkin’s Giant 2-CD, Johan Williams Home Alone 2-CD, James Horner’s Braveheart 2-CD en John Barry’s Dances with Wolves 2-CD. Deze 5 nieuwe titels zijn verkrijgbaar vanaf 2 december 2015.

De eerste release is James Horner’s The Pagemaster uit 1994. Deze soundtrack is al verschillende jaren niet meer verkrijgbaar en is nu volledig geremastered door Mike Matessino. Dit album bevat ook een 7-tal minuten van voorheen onuitgebrachte muziek. James Horner componeerde een avontuurlijk score voor deze film met in de hoofdrol Macaulay Culkin en Christopher Lloyd. In totaal zullen er 2000 exemplaren beschikbaar zijn. De totale speelduur bedraagt 70 minuten.

De tweede release is Dimitri Tiomkin’s score voor Giant. Deze uit 1956 is geregisseerd door George Stevens met in de hoofdrollen Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson en James Dean. Deze nieuwe versie bevat maar liefst 2 uur en 25 minuten muziek. De mono studio vault tapes zijn de bron geweest voor deze release. Producent Neil S Bulk heeft deze geëdit en samengesteld, inclusief alternatieve takes. Doug Schwartz zorgde voor de remastering. In totaal zijn er 3000 exemplaren verkrijgbaar. De liner notes zijn geschreven door Frank K. DeWald.

Mike Matessino heeft voor deze release recent ontdekte 2’’ scoring masters inclusief 3-track mixes gebruikt. Deze heeft hij getransfereerd, gemixed en gemastered naar een hoge resolutie (96k/24bit). Het is reeds 20 jaar geleden dat James Horner’s epische score voor Braveheart uitgebracht is. Ter ere van de 20ste verjaardag brengt La-La Land Records een 2-CD set uit met maar liefst 129 minuten muziek. De score is voor deze release volledig geremastered en uitgebreid met muziek welke nu voor het eerst verkrijgbaar is. Braveheart behoort nog steeds tot één van James Horner’s beste scores. In 1995 won deze film van en met Mel Gibson de Oscar voor beste film. In totaal zullen er 3000 exemplaren verkrijgbaar zijn. De liner notes zijn geschreven door Jeff Bond.
