Milan Records releases Outer Range (Amazon Original Series Soundtrack) by composers Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans. The album features music composed by the duo for Prime Video’s latest Original series starring Oscar®-nominee Josh Brolin.
Bensi and Jurriaans utilize their extensive experience (Ozark, Fear The Walking Dead, Martha Marcy May Marlene) to create a soundscape befitting the Western mystery thriller.

The first season of Outer Range consists of eight episodes, with two episodes premiering each Friday exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
The season culminates with the powerful penultimate and finale episodes premiering Friday, May 6, only on Prime Video.

Of the soundtrack, composers Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans say, “Composing the music for Outer Range was an incredible opportunity for us to spread our creative wings, melding all the strange and wonderful things we’ve learned in our musical careers.

The team was so open and encouraging, there was a real sense of trust which gave us a confidence to push the boundaries wherever we could. The music of the show grows throughout the series from strange, minimal, manipulated sounds and small electro-organic groups to sweeping string orchestras, choirs and epic electronic soundscapes.
While the music illustrates the grand fantastical mysteries of the story, it also reflects a dark, quirky sense of humor.”

Outer Range

Outer Range centers on Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin), a rancher fighting for his land and family, who discovers an unfathomable mystery at the edge of Wyoming's wilderness. A thrilling Western family saga with hints of wry humor and supernatural mystery, Outer Range examines how we grapple with the unknown.

At the onset of the series, the Abbotts are coping with the disappearance of daughter-in-law Rebecca. They are pushed further to the brink when the Tillersons (the gaudy owners of the neighboring profit-driven ranch) make a play for their land.
An untimely death in the community sets off a chain of tension-filled events, and seemingly small-town, soil-bound troubles come to a head with the arrival of a mysterious black void in the Abbotts’ west pasture.
Wild revelations unfold as Royal fights to protect his family; through his eyes, we begin to see how time contains secrets held in the past and unsettling mysteries foreshadowed.

Led by Oscar-nominee Josh Brolin (Dune), Outer Range features an ensemble cast of award-winning and breakout talent, including Imogen Poots (I Know This Much Is True), Lili Taylor (Perry Mason), Tamara Podemski (Four Sheets to the Wind), Lewis Pullman (Top Gun: Maverick), Tom Pelphrey (Ozark), Noah Reid (Schitt’s Creek), Shaun Sipos (Krypton), Isabel Arraiza (The Little Things), Olive Abercrombie (The Haunting of Hill House), and Will Patton (Yellowstone).

Outer Range comes from creator and executive producer Brian Watkins, with executive producers Zev Borow, Heather Rae, Josh Brolin, Robin Sweet, Lawrence Trilling, Amy Seimetz, Tony Krantz, and Plan B Entertainment for Amazon Studios. Executive producers for Plan B Entertainment are Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Brad Pitt.

About Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans

Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans are two award-winning film composers.
They have been writing and playing music together for over twenty years.
Before both moving to New York in 2001, Danny was raised studying the cello in Europe, while Saunder grew up playing guitar in Seattle’s thriving music scene. As a duo, they are known for bold unpredictability, uniqueness, and their ability to interpret a wide range of genres.
Drawing from an array of modern classical styles and beyond, their compositions are filled with atypical orchestrations, sensuous melodies, and visceral soundscapes.

One of their first films, Martha Marcy May Marlene (Dir. Sean Durkin) garnered much attention for its sparse and suspenseful score. Soon after, their sinister score for Enemy (Dir. Denis Villeneuve) won “Best Musical Score” at the Canadian Screen Awards. In 2015, they scored Joel Edgerton’s acclaimed suspense thriller The Gift and later his 2018 drama Boy Erased. More recent films include The White Tiger, The Devil All the Time, The Rental and Windfall. The duo has also written remarkable scores for documentaries LA 92, Amanda Knox, Tina, The Wolfpack and many more.

In TV, Danny and Saunder have scored 4 seasons of Jason Bateman’s Ozark as well as The OA and Chef’s Table. Other television work includes Fear the Walking Dead, American Gods, On Becoming A God in Central Florida, The Outsider, and Pieces of Her.

Upcoming projects include Tokyo Vice (HBO), The Staircase (HBO) and Outer Range (Amazon) and Night Sky (Amazon).
Danny and Saunder currently live and work in Los Angeles, where they each have studios.
