The Story: Two mortal enemies – a little Mouse and a Fox – meet in animal heaven after an accident. They lose their natural instincts and become best friends. Their wish to stay together after they return to earth comes true, but they are reborn into opposite roles.
The Score: “Even Mice Belong in Heaven is a definitely the richest and the most ambitious score I have ever composed. The wide spectrum of colors, sounds and musical ideas is a result of the amazing freedom that I was given by the film directors; Jan Bubeníček and Denisa Grimmová. I have decided to go with every, even the most crazy musical idea. That is why we ended up having a Hungarian czardas for the chase scenes, Strauss waltz for the Heaven baths, circus themes for the adventure parks sequence, epic Indiana Jones-like cues for the underground sequences and big choirs with opera soprano for the final confrontation. All that is of course constructed according to meticulously planned harmony and melodic ideas, so even if you hear and feel references and styles that I have just mentioned you can hear that this is the music from Even Mice Belong in Heaven, and the whole score has its own specific style and flavour. That is something I am very glad that we have achieved in the end.” – Krzysztof A. Janczak
The Composer: Krzysztof A. Janczak is the laureate of over a dozen international concert and film music competitions among others; Eyes & Ears of Europe in Munich, Red Dot in Berlin, New York Festivals in NY, European Talent and Universal Music Award in Cologne, and Transatlantyk Young Composer Award in Poznan. In 2012, he received a nomination to a special RMF Classic Award for young film music composer of a year. In 2017,he became a member of European Film Academy.
