Inspired by true events from the spring of 1944 when the germans organized a football match between a team of camp inmates and an elite german team on Adolf Hitler’s birthday. A match the prisoners are determined to win, no matter what happens…

Statements:
Since this is a film based on a true and historical event, I opted for more “classical”, orchestral sound. The orchestra can best convey the drama experienced by the prisoners in the concentration camp.
At the beginning of the film, I often use the musical motif of hope because the human spirit is unbreakable and invincible even though they live and work in inhuman conditions. Then, using a lyrical solo violin, I underline the emotions and memories of the main characters, all the way to the dark theme and motifs that describe the drama unfolding towards the end of the film.
“The Match” was the first collaboration between me and directors Dominik and Jakov Sedlar and in the end we were all very happy with the final product.

The music composed by Dalibor perfectly captures each facet of the story we were trying to tell. It extenuates the mood and ever so discreetly embellishes each moment. The best music in any film comes at you quietly and unassumingly, it becomes a character in itself, softly growing upon you, where you hardly notice it precisely because it is so good. It makes each shot more beautiful, each performance a beat stronger, it’s essential in every way. One cannot imagine any legendary film without a score that is just as legendary. Dalibor effortlessly managed to capture exactly what we were going for. He has a keen talent in capturing exactly what each moment needs, an emotional acuity that’s of extreme importance when one does compose music for a film because seldom does a person posses such a an exemplary talent.
