Lakeshore Records has released The Violent Heart–Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, available now digitally! The 28-track album features score by award-winning Composer John Swihart (The Bay of Silence,Napoleon Dynamite),

Directed by Kerem Sanga, The Violent Heart is a Founder’s Award Nominee at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival.
Fifteen years after the murder of his older sister, 24-year-old Daniel (2020 Emmy nominee Jovan Adepo) finds himself falling for Cassie (Grace Van Patten), an outgoing high school senior, in this Romeo & Juliet-style thriller set in the American heartland.

About John Swihart
John Swihart grew up in Bloomington Indiana, spending much of his childhood on the campus of Indiana University where his father was a Professor of Physics. Home to the world-renowned Jacobs School of music, John attended weekly concerts and celebrations at the Musical Arts Center(the MAC) and at the IU Auditorium where every Halloween there was a showing of “Phantom of the Opera” accompanied by an organist. He studied piano, saxophone and guitar.
After Berklee College of Music (Boston) John spent years touring with various bands and eventually working in the Blue Man Group Show before he moved to LA to pursue a career in film and television score composition and production.
John is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist composer-producer with a long list of credits across multiple genres and platforms. He works out of his studio in the famed Laurel Canyon. Swihart’s expertise is working with filmmakers to tell their particular stories by supporting their unique sensibilities with the narrative in an artistic and innovative way to create contemporary scores. Swihart says, “The score should resonate with the script and the visuals in a way that every beat of the story drops where it needs to be.”

Sanga encourages his actors to underplay the rage and suspicion that lingers beneath their interactions, and he instead uses the movie’s electronic score to build a melancholy, even ominous mood. – Teo Bugbee, New York Times

After serving time for injuring a classmate in a high school fight, Daniel lives at home with his mother and younger brother and does oil changes at a local auto shop, but dreams of joining the Marines.
His outlook brightens when he meets Cassie (Grace Van Patten), an outgoing, college-bound high school senior who finds his quiet manner and mysterious air a refreshing change from the boys her age. But when deeply buried secrets of their small town are revealed, reverberations of the violent past threaten to tear the couple apart.
