Wave Theory Records presents the world premiere release of the original score from the drama 3 Women (1977) composed by Gerald Busby.
Gerald Busby has written the iconic score to Robert Altman's avant-garde masterpiece, 3 Women (1977), starring Shelley Duvall, Janice Rule and Sissy Spacek.
The label has previously released a soundtrack with the original songs from the movie written by Allan Nicholls, Tom Walls & Jeff Wilson and performed by the Desert Centre Country Band last year.
“Gerald Busby’s music for 3 Women is so perfect I don’t know how to talk about it”
Robert Altman (filmmaker)
“Gerald Busby is an American gem – no one else has ever written music that sounds remotely like his'
Craig Lucas (playwright)
”Gerald Busby is a high personality composer with a voice like none other. His music flows with unadulterated inspiration.”
David Patrick Stearns (music critic for the Philadelphia Inquirer, The Guardianand Gramophone)
Music by Gerald Busby.
Flute performed by Michael Parloff.
Album artwork designed by Robert Green and Wave Theory Records, incorporating murals painted for the film by Bodhi Wind.
In a dusty, under-populated California resort town, Pinky Rose (Sissy Spacek), a naïve and impressionable Southern waif begins her life as a nursing home attendant.
There, Pinky finds her role model in fellow nurse 'Thoroughly Modern' Millie Lammoreaux (Shelley Duvall), a misguided would-be sophisticate and hopeless devotee of Cosmopolitan and Woman's Day magazines.
When Millie accepts Pinky into her home at the Purple Sage singles complex, Pinky's hero-worship evolves into something far stranger and more sinister than either could have anticipated.
