The film directed by Roseanne Liang and starring Chloë Grace Moretz, Nick Robinson, Beulah Koale, and Taylor John Smith was released January 1 via Vertical Entertainment.

Mahuia Bridgman-Cooper is a notable figure in the New Zealand music scene with award-winning work as a composer, violinist, producer, and collaborator. From electronica to a full symphony orchestra, Mahuia’s innovative scores encompass a vast range of styles evident through his varied work. He holds a Masters of Music in Performance Violin, having studied at The University of Auckland, The University of Otago and The Australian Institute of Music.

Mahuia’s diverse repertoire includes writing and producing for Netflix, the Dalai Lama, Playstation, along with local many artists such as TEEKS and LAB.
His substantial film background includes writing scores for Lee Tamahori, Gerard Johnstone and Roseanne Liang. His classical work includes arranging and curating concerts for both the Auckland Philharmonia and The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.

Mahuia is currently working on two upcoming TV series, to be released in 2021, and recording an album for The Black Quartet, of which he is a founding member.

In the throes of World War II, Flight Officer Maude Garrett (Chloë Grace Moretz) joins the all-male crew of a B-17 bomber with a top-secret package. Caught off guard by the presence of a woman on a military flight, the crew tests Maude’s every move.
Just as her quick wit is winning them over, strange happenings and holes in her backstory incite paranoia surrounding her true mission. But this crew has more to fear…lurking in the shadows, something sinister is tearing at the heart of the plane.
Trapped between an oncoming air ambush and an evil lurking within, Maude must push beyond her limits to save the hapless crew and protect her mysterious cargo.

Says Bridgman-Cooper: “I loved composing this score, I love working with Roseanne….she’s not afraid of anything. When she asked me to think about how an 80’s synth soundtrack might work against a WWII Alien vs Indiana Jones mashup, I knew I was going to be in for a ride.
The challenge was sticking to a synth-based palette while still being able to bring out the witchy feminist superpower of Maude and her imperfections. The end result is a juxtaposition of 80’s nostalgia against a WWII setting…with a gremlin thrown in. It pours fuel on the fire that is this wonderfully bonkers adventure.”
