Interlude in Prague, the latest romantic biography drama movie directed by John Stephenson and starring Aneurin Barnard, James Purefoy, Samantha Barks, Trent Garrett, Adrian Edmondson, Ruby Bentall, Dervla Kirwan, Klára Issová, Morfydd Clark, Charlotte Peters, Nickolas Grace, Anna Rust, Edmund Kingsley, Raymond Thiry, Ian Bonar, Krystof Hádek, Jirí Mádl, Ross William Wild, Alena Doláková, and Claudia Vaseková.

Prague, 1786. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Aneurin Barnard) spends a few turbulent months escaping the frustrating, privileged elite of Vienna. However his unconventional presence soon unleashes a series of dramatic and tragic events. Overwhelmed by the tangled web of violence and intrigue that surrounds him and with his mind affected, Mozart creates the astonishing music and drama that becomes ‘Don Giovanni’.

''This film has been an 18 month journey for us and a project that many people said we were mad to take on. It began with a meeting with Producer Huw Penalt Jones, Director John Stephenson and the writer of Interlude in Prague Brian Ashby. The film was quite a daunting project from a musical point of view and we were approached to manage all aspects of the music from recreating the arias of Don Giovanni and The Marriage of Figaro with some amazing performers, to handling on set performances, and also to compose the score to sit alongside such astonishing music and we have been on a momentous journey. The score was recorded between March and December 2016 on two separate occasions either side of filming and this gave us the opportunity to fully immerse ourselves in some of Mozart’s most revered compositions. Director John Stephenson wanted the music for Interlude to feel like a contemporary film in an 18th century setting which gave us the opportunity to sit current day score alongside Mozart’s intricate work. We choose to record the score in Prague with the City Of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. Alongside their experience in modern film scores, members of the orchestra regularly perform Don Giovanni and conductor, Miriam Nemcova (Director and Professor at the Prague Conservatoire) has studied and performed Mozart’s work for many years so they were the perfect choice for the film. Our experience from recording Mozart’s works, to supervising the music during filming, to composing the score has been incredible and we feel very privileged to have been involved and to have worked with such a wonderful and talented cast and crew. The film is unique and beguiling whilst keeping a true darkness in the story which we hope we have echoed that in our score. Whilst going slightly mad towards the end, we would do it all again in a heartbeat.
