The Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by John Owen Edwards

To have Valerie Masterson and Thomas Allen perform this recital of musical theater songs in the original stage orchestrations is indicative of a trend which is long overdue for the dissolution of the barriers between opera and musical theater. Both stars of international repute on the world opera stages, Valerie Masterson and Thomas Allen have combined in this recording to create a unique experience singing love songs from some of the best known musicals, many of which have recently enjoyed, or are expecting Broadway revivals.

Recorded with the world renowned Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by John Owen Edwards at Abbey Road Studios in London, an accompanyment for singers of such stature has not been surpassed and this stands up as one of the most enchanting recordings ever produced.
