Parallax Sounds' original music stars post rock and jazz musician, composer and improviser Ken Vandermark as its leading original music composer. Vandermark's work is interpreted by Parallax Ensemble, which comprises some of the key members of the post rock movement (see Original Music Interprets). Grubbs is The author of Records Ruin the Landscape: John Cage, The Sixties, and Sound Recording (Duke University Press) and has released twelve solo albums and appeared on more than 150 commercially released recordings. Grubbs is known for his cross disciplinary collaborations with writers such as Susan Howe and Rick Moody, and with visual artists such as Anthony McCall, Angela Bulloch, Cosima von Bonin, and Stephen Prina. Grubbs was a member of the groups Gastr del Sol, Bastro, and Squirrel Bait.
