Assassin's Creed Mirage: Mirage Theme

The first single from Ubisoft’s upcoming addition to the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Assassin’s Creed® Mirage has just been released.

The first single from Ubisoft’s upcoming addition to the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Assassin’s Creed® Mirage has just been released.

“Mirage Theme,” is the main theme from producer and composer Brendan Angelides (Billions, 13 Reasons Why, Elysium). Brendan is poised to infuse his signature electronic artistry into the Ubisoft adventure, Assassin's Creed Mirage, set in ninth century Baghdad.
Collaborating with musicians deeply connected to the region and its culture, such as the New York Arabic Orchestra and Tunisian artist Emel Mathlouthi, Brendan brings a fresh sonic perspective to the game. Inspired by Mathlouthi's viral protest song during the Arab Spring, Brendan's music for Mirage promises to transport players into a world where history, culture, and gameplay merge seamlessly, further solidifying his status as a musical magician of the gaming world.

Brendan Angelides notes, “The main theme is a window into the entire story of Mirage and Basim's journey. The goal was to capture a story of transformation by blending old world instrumentation with new world tech. I wanted to feel the sand, the wind, the ever-present danger.
Layth Sidiq was brought in to capture the essence of Basim through his vocals and masterful violin work. ”

About Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set in 9th-century Baghdad and stars Basim Ibn Ishaq, a “cunning street thief with nightmarish visions” and eventual Master Assassin. Following an act of deadly retribution, Basim flees Baghdad and joins an ancient organization called The Hidden Ones.
As he learns more about their mysterious rituals and powerful tenets, he begins to hone his own unique abilities and understand a new Creed — one that will change his fate in ways he never could have imagined. Basim first appeared in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla as a major supporting character.

Since it first launched in 2007, the Assassin’s Creed® series has sold more than 200 million games worldwide. The franchise is now established as one of the best-selling series in video game history. Recognized for having some of the richest, most engrossing storytelling in the industry, Assassin’s Creed transcends video games, branching out into numerous other entertainment media.

About Brendan Angelides

Over the past two decades, Brendan Angelides has traced his own path into a cosmos of dynamic experimental sound. Regarded by NPR’s Bob Boilen as ‘part musician, part magician,’ the Los Angeles-based music producer and composer has cast his atmospheric allure into releases with labels Ninja Tune, Interscope, Warp, Planet Mu and Apollo, as well as his own imprint, Ancestor.
The cinematic magnetism of his sound has also led him to compose soundtracks for TV, film and gaming, including the acclaimed 13 Reasons Why (Netflix), Billions (Showtime), and the forthcoming Assassin’s Creed: Mirage (Ubisoft).

With the release of his solo album Oxygen in 2023, Angelides arrives at a vivid new horizon of his multi-genre output, intertwining his signature electronic palette with an array of orchestral incantations performed by the London Contemporary Orchestra.
Across eleven compositions, expansive synth distortions meld with the lucent glow of instrumentation in his most personal work to date — through Oxygen, Angelides channels the emotional dimensions of becoming a father, bringing twins into the world while processing the diagnosis of his daughter’s disability.

The impulse to translate inner narratives into sound has characterized Angelides’ work since his musical beginnings. Under the former monikers ‘Eskmo’ and ‘Welder’, his non-conformist, hands-on production splintered into two distinct aesthetics.
The albums Eskmo (Ninja Tune, 2010) and SOL (Apollo, 2015) emerged from a lineage of precision-made, sound system-focused releases with Planet Mu and Warp, fusing field recordings with intricately modified sound.
The ‘Welder’ persona created space for more organic, downtempo and lo-fi experimentation, with EPs presented on Cyberset and Native State alongside self-releases with Ancestor, the imprint established by Angelides in 2008 to nurture and expand his creative autonomy.

In 2013, Angelides moved from San Francisco to Los Angeles where he met a group of like-minded composers and co-founded The Echo Society.
Evolving through a shared interest in the potential of orchestral and electronic music, the artist collective showcases original live commissions of sonic and visual art in unexpected locations.
