China, 2003. Society is restless with excitement; everyone is eager to prove themselves. The Internet has yet to take over. Newspaper is king. Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed journalism intern Han Dong decides to change the fate of 100 million people with a single article. This film is inspired by true events.….

Director's Statement :

Due to the pandemic, post- production took place online. The editor and I were 1300km apart. Distance sparks reflection.
« The story is set in Beijing, 17 years ago. Han Dong’s story is a footnote in an era of endless possibilities; it was a time where society was still finding its footing. China has developed so fast that even decade-old archives are alienating.
I chose to focus my lens on human faces.
Their yearning, hesitancy, agony and dignity stand out the most to me in an era’s collective memory.
This film is based on real events.
Who knew that history would repeat itself with the coronavirus pandemic? The changes that Han Dong dreamt of in the film, would they come true? Time will tell. »

The first collaboration with Wang jing was very dense. He knows music well and had a clear vision.
It was a difficult task for me to translate his vision into music, but it was a very meaningful time.
While this movie depicts social issues, it also retains the entertainment value of movies.
The skill of the director was splendid.
I’m proud to be a part of such a great film and proud to have made this music.
