« The first conversation I had with Gus and Andrés was about the night. We talked about how the night sounds and feels, how noises and lights and everything that is not important fades away, so it becomes a space that can be lonely but at the same time very intimate. I think we were all kind of fascinated by the idea of creating that progression with the music in the film. From there we landed on the tone, which quickly started revolving around the word nostalgia. Then we just explored, and what is so beautiful about what Gus and Andrés accomplished with this score is how they told a story that revolves so much around loss and pain with such bright and luminous music, playing such an important part in defining the film. »
