The Last of the Winthrops explores the powerful revelations of a woman who reclaims her sense of self after taking an Ancestry DNA test. Initially she faces the seismic truth that her father, Reginald Winthrop, who could trace his heritage literally to the founders of America, is not her biological father.

When Reg and his beautiful French Canadian wife Claire have their “miracle child”, Viviane is raised as an heir to the historic Winthrop exceptionalism and finds pride in her career in dentistry.

After she is contacted by an unknown relative through their Ancestry DNA test, Viviane embraces her new identity, where she finds peace after facing powerful themes about love, blood and family.

Moving fluidly between past and present, through archival footage and private letters and recordings, the film follows Viviane on an epic journey across five countries and hundreds of years to find out who she thought she was… and finally finds her real path to her true self…..

We Unite As One has released Shie Shie Rozow's (Rebel, Jasmine, Ballistica) score to the documentary The Last of the Winthrops. The music is now available in multiple online stores as also on streaming services such as Spotify, Deezer and Apple Music. The film is directed by Viviane G. Winthrop & Adam K. Singer and tells the story of a woman who reclaims her sense of self after taking an Ancestry DNA test and finds out that her father, whose heritage is traced to the founders of America, is not her biological father.

The music is written by composer Shie Rozow. Rozow’s score nods to the various time periods featured throughout the long history of the Winthropfamily, which dates back to the 1500s. One of the documentary’s main musical themes interpolates anoriginal piano piece from 1963 created by the Winthrop family’s grandmother. The instrumentationfurther includes an orchestra, pianos, a string quartet, a viola da gamba, recorders, and a cedar woodflute.A highlight from the score is the track “Winthrop Family Tree,” which captures the tone of the filmthrough soaring music with intimate moments, featuring the viola da gamba and a moving solo vocal.Other stand-out tracks include “The War,” a cinematic and tense cue capturing the horrors the familyendured during World War II, and “Searching for Viviane,” where the Winthrop theme mergesharmoniously with that of Viviane’s biological family.

Shie’s score for the film is also currently nominated for a Hollywood Music and Media Award (HMMA)! He has also worked on major films and series including Avengers: Age of Ultron; Netflix’s documentary Shawn Mendes: In Wonder; DC’s live-action series Stargirl on The CW; SYFY’s Krypton; The CW’s Arrow; Spider-man 2 & 3, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, The Kingdom, and the Oscar-winning drama Hustle & Flow. The total playtime of the album is 72 minutes.
