The satirical comedy Il Boom, directed by Vittorio de Sica, with Alberto Sordi and Gianne Maria Canale, tells the misadventures of a business man who tries desperately to maintain a high standard of living for his family during the economic boom of Italy.
Although released in Italy in 1963, the film was denied distribution in U.S until 2017. The soundtrack trailer for the US market, available on YouTube, features Wheels by Billy Vaughn but this piece is not included on the soundtrack album. Instead we get the complete score by maestro Piccioni, one of the top film music composers in Italy from the early sixties to the late eighties. His contribution for Il Boom consists in groovy incidental music dominated by organ and saxophone, complete with light jazzy dances and pop songs for a long party scene.
