American Telecard Mickey Mouse

This 6 x 6 inch, thick cardboard greeting card includes a birthday message that can be read and listened to. In order to play the flexi-disc record that is attached to the inside of the card, it requires that the center hole be punched out and for the card to be separated on the perforated, folding edge.

The card was produced by American Telecard, Inc. for Buzza Cardozo of Anaheim, California. The record was made by Columbia Record Productions and includes a short message with music and dialog from Disney characters Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Huey, Dewey, Louie and Pluto.

The story on this record starts with Donald teaching Pluto how to sing Happy Birthday. Mickey joins in to tell Donald that dogs can't sing. Donald tries to prove his point by telling them that there is a talking horse on TV that can speak and Mr. Ed chimes in for a few words. Mickey gives up and everyone starts singing 'Happy Birthday' to the recipient of the greeting card. Pluto closes the message by speaking the words 'who said dogs can't sing!'

Mickey Mouse is a cartoon character created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. Mickey debut in the animated cartoon 'Steamboat Willie' in November of 1928. Donald Duck is a cartoon character created by Walt Disney Productions in 1934. Donald debut in the animated cartoon 'The Little Wise Hen' in June of 1934.
