s a founding member of the hugely influential New York Dolls, and key player in the birth of punk rock with The Heartbreakers, Johnny Thunders influenced countless musicians and left behind an iconic legacy.

His unique musical style, personal battles with drugs, and mysterious death in 1991 are now the subject of ‘Looking For Johnny’, a feature length documentary by filmmaker Danny Garcia (‘The Rise and Fall of The Clash’), which opened to critical acclaim at a continuing series of screenings across the globe which commenced in the latter half of 2014.

Following the film’s release on DVD in October, Jungle Records issue an original soundtrack album, featuring several rare and exclusive tracks. Initially released exclusively as a now sold-out limited edition numbered double-LP on red patent vinyl, the double-CD soundtrack follows up and features sleeve notes by Thunders biographer Nina Antonia.

Packing 30 tracks including rare and unreleased versions, the album features a cut from early band Actress (who would become the New York Dolls), alternative versions of Heartbreakers favourites such as ‘Born To Lose’ and ‘Pirate Love’, and numbers from all eras of Thunders’ solo career including ‘You Can’t Put Your Arms Around A Memory’.

The final six tracks are songs from some of the guitarist’s collaborators and contemporaries which were mostly recorded especially for the film, including the title track ‘Looking For Johnny’ (by Oddballs band mate Stevie Klasson), and tracks by The Bermondsey Joyriders (featuring The Oddballs’ Chris Musto), Vic Goddard (Subway Sect), Jan Stenfors (Hanoi Rocks) and JC Carroll (The Members).
