Rachel Portman was born in west Sussex, England. She began composing at the age of 14 and read music at Oxford University. Whilst there, she became interested in writing music for student films and theatre productions. Since than she’s written music for television productions such as Jim Henson’s The Storyteller and mainly for film. Rachel won an Academy award for her score for Emma and Academy nominations for Chocolat and The Cider House Rules. Recently she’s written the scores to The Right Kind of Wrong and Belle.


In this interview she talks about how it was to work with Jim Henson, about het latest projects The Right Kind of Wrong and Belle and about her upcoming work.
