In an age of standardized summer blockbuster scores, this one stands out as probably one of the greats. Doyle takes the standard base ostinatos and beats, but adds his own since of lyricism to it that it really shines through the action. He gives us Thor's theme but for the most part after Prologue he rarely touches the idea again until the cue Earth To Asgard. For the most part his secondary themes are given dominance and from the narrative of the movie it makes sense. Now the only problem I had was with the mixing, for some reason I wished that the choir could have been brought to the forefront of the mix, or that the mix wasn't so dry. Other than that it really is a score that makes the bride that connects both those listening for a casual listener, yet making the connection for those who seek the typical Doyle lyricism.
