The Monster Squad & Time's Up

New releases La-La Land Records

La-La Land Records records has released this week, next to the 12-CD box of Lost in Space, two new albums. The first is a remastered re-issue of Bruce Broughton's Monster Squad score and the second is Michael McCuistion's Time's Up.

La-La Land Records and Paramount Pictures present the remastered re-issue of renowned composer Bruce Broughton’s (SILVERADO, TOMBSTONE, BABY’S DAY OUT) original motion picture score to the beloved 1987 horror-fantasy-adventure THE MONSTER SQUAD, starring Andre Gower, Robby Kiger, Stephen Macht and Ashley Bank, and directed by Fred Dekker. Composer Broughton’s powerhouse orchestral score emboldens the titular pre-teens and teens as they heroically square off, (with a little help from Frankenstein’s Monster), against none other than Dracula, The Wolfman and more! Scary, wondrous, thrilling and heartwarming, Broughton’s rich score bursts with fun and derring-do excitement! Produced by Dan Goldwasser and Mike Matessino, and meticulously edited and remastered by Matessino from newly discovered ¼ inch master tapes, this special release showcases the film version of the score, along with additional tracks - including alternate cues, source music, and the premiere release of the film’s songs “Rock Until You Drop” and “Monster Squad Rap.” Liner notes from writer Daniel Schweiger and monstrously fun art design by Dan Goldwasser round out this must-have for all film music fans! It’s a CD release with ‘nards!

La-La Land Records and Griffith Observatory presents the original score to the acclaimed Griffith Observatory / Samuel Oschin Planetarium show TIME’S UP! Emmy Award-Winning composer Michael McCuistion (BATMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES, YOUNG JUSTICE, BROKE SKY, JUSTICE LEAGUE) crafts a powerfully out-of-this-world original score for this acclaimed Samuel Oschin Planetarium show, which thrilled audiences at the Griffith Observatory from 2012-2014, taking them on an astounding journey behind the birth and death of the cosmos and even the nature of time itself. McCuistion’s breathtaking, thrilling and deeply emotional score was so notable in Time’s Up that it has been used in portion to accompany other Griffith Observatory programs and exhibits. This special release was produced by the composer, mastered by James Nelson and features exclusive, in-depth liner notes by writer John Takis and celestial art design by Dan Goldwasser.
