German sex education would seem a contradiction in terms, but this stuff is incredible: where American sex-ed movies bow to the nation's puritanical origins and preach abstinence and shame, the Germans pulled out all the stops, making films and soundtracks that instead promoted the virtues of free love. Birds Do It boasts swelling, lusty grooves that would make Barry White green with envy -- there's at most a degree of separation from the overtly sleazy sounds of porn music and these easy-listening instrumentals, with fuzzed-out guitars, liquid basslines, squealing keyboards, and funky drums setting the tone. Highlights include Uschi Moser's 'Sunny Honey,' Kristian Schultz's 'Phrase/Overdrive,' John O'Brien-Docker's 'Sock It to Me,' and the Pierre Lavin Pop Band's 'Young and Poppy.'
