According to Hans-Zimmer.com, Hans Zimmer has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming sci-fi thriller Chappie. The film is directed by Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium) and stars Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel, Ninja and Yo-Landi Visser, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Sigourney Weaver, as well as Sharlto Copley as the voice of the title character. The movie follows a robot named Chappie who is kidnapped by two criminals and becomes the adopted son of a very strange and dysfunctional family. Blomkamp has co-writen the script with Terri Tatchell (District 9) and Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Elysium, Jumper) serves as a producer. No word yet on whether any of the music by composers Ryan Amon, Chris Clark and Rich Walters who were previously announced to score the project will remain in the film. Chappie is set to be released on March 6, 2015 by Sony Pictures.
