JoWooD's long-awaited-for follow-up to the computer game Alien Nations (Die Völker), which has sold over 1,300,000 worldwide, is on the market as of June 2001. The principle of the game has been kept for the new follow-up, THE NATIONS (DIE VÖLKER 2) the player again slips into the role of the chief of a tribe. Better graphics, more playing possibilities and most of all the new idea of releasing the music as a Soundtrack CD has brought the game into new dimensions.
Jesper Kyd has created an atmospherically impenetrable sound design. He talentedly plays with experimental sound patterns and builds up a music full of multileveled, rhythmic themes which are appropriately fitted to THE NATIONS (DIE VÖLKER 2).
Kyd presents us with a near-hypnotic composition which is comprised of a throbbing, fascinating rhythm along with modern and effectively placed electronic sound effects. The harmonic patterns and the melodic meditational passages backed up by a choir guarantee a truly memorable musical experience which carries the listener into the world of the Nations and lets him sink into its depths in all its completeness.
Jesper Kyd, who originally comes from Denmark, has already got a line-up of credits behind him including the sounds to such games as MDK2, MDK2 Armageddon, Messiah, Subterrania, Red Zone and Hitman Codename 47. With this CD release, new ground will be broken and listeners and players alike can expect a musical sensation far beyond what they have experienced so far.
