Disney's Main Street Electrical Parade

This picture disc record was originally sold at the park as a musical souvenir in 1973. Five different records were issued from 1973 to 1977 and are numbered DE-1 on black vinyl, WE-4 on black and clear vinyl, WD-4 on black vinyl and 5-WD on clear vinyl.

At first glance, all issues appear to be very similar. The most notable differences are the 1973 and 1977 issues where both the artwork and music are different. Other subtle differences across issues include the use of black and clear vinyl, the notation of 'SIDE ONE' vs. 'PART 1' and the spelling of the park's title as 'Disneyland's' on DE-1, 'Walt Disney World' on WE-4, 'Disneyland' on WD-4 and 'Disney's' on 5-WD.

Besides the blue corner edges, the artwork on the front cardboard insert is plain. There is no additional text or artwork behind the record. This issue was pressed on black vinyl.

The 'Main Street Electrical Parade' is a Disney attraction and made its official debut on June 17, 1972. It was originally featured live on Main Street U.S.A. at the Disneyland theme park. It ended a sporadic run on 1996. It was later revived at the California Adventure theme park and then on to Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.

La Main Street Electrical Parade (MSEP) est un parade nocturne présentée dans les parcs à thèmes Disney entre 1972 et 2017.

Pionnière du genre, elle a été créée par Bob Jani, et met en scène une vingtaine ou trentaine de chars (cela dépend de la version et du parc), mais tend à être remplacée malgré son succès non démenti au fil du temps par des parades plus innovantes. Sa dernière représentation à Disneyland, le parc qui l'a vu naître, a eu lieu le 25 novembre 1996 mais elle a été reprise dans le parc Disney's California Adventure.
Le succès de la Main Street Electrical Parade fit qu'elle a été répliquée dans les autres parcs Disney.

Le thème principal de la Main Street Electrical Parade est Baroque Hoedown composée en 1967 par les artistes de musique électronique Jean-Jacques Perrey et Gershon Kingsley ayant participé à deux célèbres groupes musicaux: They Might Be Giants et Reel Big Fish. Ils conçurent la musique sur des instruments Moogs. La version de la parade est un arrangement de Don Dorsey.
