The third and final soundtrack to the last of Dom Joly's guerrilla style comedy series, Trigger Happy TV 3 is another great selection of downbeat music from the show. Joly, (self confessed 'good white indie boy') delves into his own personal record collection again and comes back with both some classic and surprising selections. There are some tracks from the late 80s / early 90s which are great to rediscover (Psychedelic Furs' 'Love My Way' and Haircut 100's 'Whistle Down The Wind' in particular). There are also great album tracks from the Dandy Warhols and Suede, while Eskobar's 'On A Train' really stands out from the newer artists here. If you're looking for beautiful downbeat music Nick Drake's 'Riverman' is hard to match while Fleetwood Mac's 'Need Your Love So Bad' and the Beach Boys 'God Only Knows' are all classics everyone should own. Most compilations have a tendency towards the predictable, but like the show itself that is certainly not the case here. Trigger Happy TV 3 sounds more like a mix tape from a friend than a marketing dream--fortunately for us Dom Joly certainly has taste.
