Mid-price re-release of the first complete recording of Noel Coward's much-loved and best remembered operetta 'Bitter Sweet'.
This recording, unlike those releases of the score previously available, is the first complete recording of the songs and music, which places them in their dramatic context. Based on a production by the New Sadler's Wells Opera, featuring soprano Valerie Masterson as The Marchioness of Shayne, (Sarah Millick), Martin Smith as Carl Linden and Rosemary Ashe as Manon (La Crevette). It was digitally recorded at Abbey Road Studios.

'Bittersweet' contains some of Coward's greatest songs, 'I'll See You Again', 'If Love Were All', 'We All Wear a Green Carnation' and 'Zigeuner' and also included are three pieces: 'Alas! The Time Is Past', 'Bittersweet Waltz' and 'Polka', which are recorded here in full for the first time.

This recording was chosen by the Gramophone Musicals Good CD Guide and BBC Music Magazine's The Golden Age of Musical as one of their Top 50 Selections.
