World Premiere Release of original soundtrack from intense prison action movie that finds Sylvester Stallone locking horns with Donald Sutherland. Bill Conti serves his time with triple-layered score for large orchestra. One layer offers pair of tender piano melodies representing memories, future goals of inmate Stallone. Another layer reveals darker motifs for mean warden, even meaner goons. Third layer underscores action, uses pulsating motifs for keyboard and percussion over dark string chords. Rousing highlight: exciting full-steam-ahead clash of melodic ideas during dynamic football game sequence - an orchestral tour-de-force! Here composer lets motif for sinister warden Sutherland compete with melody for noble convict Stallone. As brutal game intensifies, composer chooses sides, allows noble theme to dominate as heroic statement for upper brass. Intrada premieres entire score in dynamic stereo from original multi-track session masters made by legendary Dan Wallin at Lorimar Studios.
