John Debney is a L.A. based composer who has written music for films such as Hocus Pocus, Passion of the Christ, Cutthroat Island, Elf and recently Come Away, Season 2 of The Orville and Jingle Jangle. John has won 3 Emmy awards, has been nominated for an Oscar award and he is the youngest recipient of ASCAP’s prestigious Henry Mancini Lifetime Achievement Award.

John Debney is an Academy award nominated composer of filmmusic who was distined for a career in Hollywood. As the son of Disney Studios producer Louis Debney, John grew up in nearby Glendale, where he began guitar lessons at age six and played in rock bands in college. He began scoring Motion Picture projects as diverse as Star Trek: The Next Generation, A Pup Named Scooby-Doo and Sea Quest DSV, for which he won an Emmy for Best Main Title. In 1993 he secured his first studio feature film, the Disney comedy Hocus Pocus starring Bette Midler. From there on he wrote music to films such as The Princess Diary 1 & 2, Cutthroat Island, The Passion of the Christ, Iron Man 2, Draft Day, The Spongebob Movie and many more. Recently he wrote the score to The Young Messiah and the upcoming Disney film The Jungle Book.
