Classically trained from a young age at the Royal Academy of Music in London with an extensive repertoire in multiple music genres, Richard Jacques is an award-winning composer for video games, film and television whose scoring credits include both critically acclaimed and blockbuster franchises such as JAMES BOND 007: BLOOD STONE (Activision), MASS EFFECT (BioWare), ALICE IN WONDERLAND (Disney), HEADHUNTER (Amuze/Sega) and STARSHIP TROOPERS (Empire/Sony Pictures). He is internationally recognized as one of the A-list composers in interactive entertainment, described by PLAY Magazine (US) as 'One of the truly distinctive music composers in the industry today.' Excelling in cinematic scoring Jacques was the first composer to secure a major budget for a live symphony orchestra in a video game soundtrack (HEADHUNTER), the first to record a live orchestra for a Sony PSP handheld title (PURSUIT FORCE), the first to have his music featured in art exhibitions as well as live concerts in Japan, Europe and North America ('Games Convention' concert series & 'Video Games Live' world tour), and the first western composer to have his game scores released commercially in Japan, Europe and North America.

Jacques' highly acclaimed live action orchestral score for HEADHUNTER was the first video game soundtrack to record with the A-List musicians of the London Session Orchestra and utilize the world famous Abbey Road Studios' Studio One which has played host to so many famous classical recordings and influential motion picture scores. With Jacques at the helm, these historic sessions at Abbey Road raised the bar for live orchestral recording in the games industry. The music was highlighted for its Hollywood calibre and set the benchmark for recording live orchestra and enhancing music quality for video game soundtracks. Richard's compositions have received numerous awards and accolades from arts and entertainment critics worldwide including leading film soundtrack magazine Music From The Movies who described his work as 'The most refreshing orchestral scores in many years...this guy is a rising star.'

In addition to his scoring assignments, Richard's music is a popular attraction on the live concert circuit. His anthemic music was performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl for 'Video Games Live' to more than 11,000 fans of video games and orchestral and choral music. Richard also performed a candle-lit piano recital at 'GameCity,' forming a retrospective of some of his most loved classics and treating the audience to a series of specially arranged renditions. His HEADHUNTER theme music was also performed by the English National Ballet Orchestra during the UK debut of 'Video Games Live' at Hammersmith Apollo and performed piano arrangements at the Royal Festival Hall.

Richard’s dynamic and in-demand composing style is also popular in the world of television and advertising media where his dramatic scores are featured in numerous premier TV and movie theatre campaigns for some of the world's largest media agencies (SAATCHI & SAATCHI, MCCANN ERICSSON) and top name brands such as AUDI, BACARDI, MERCEDES-BENZ and STELLA ARTOIS. Complementary to his scoring assignments other credits include programming and orchestral production for Shirley Bassey's best-selling compilation hits album “Thank You For The Years,” which includes new renditions of classic songs from the James Bond movies “Goldfinger” and “Diamonds Are Forever.”

Working closely with the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA) and Performing Right Society for Music (PRS), Richard Jacques was the primary driving force behind the addition of a new category, 'Best Original Video Game Score' at the 2010 Ivor Novello Awards. A leading and respected authority in his field, he is also a prominent speaker at high profile industry events hosted by the Audio Engineering Society, British Academy of Film and Television Arts, Develop Conference, MIDEM Music For Images, Game Developers Conference and TIGA's 'Games Meet Film' at Pinewood Studios.

Continually in high demand from the world’s top video game studios, Richard Jacques is currently scoring major AAA titles as well as original music for film, Hollywood movie trailers and other visual media. He is based in London, England.
