Ce gentleman à la tête d'œuf continue par la grâce de ses films à conquérir le cœur de jeunes gens dont il pourrait être le trisaïeul. Parce qu'il avait des ailes et parce qu'il chantait comme on rêve tous de le faire sans y parvenir, c'est-à-dire le plus naturellement du monde.

Désigné par Balanchine comme le plus grand danseur de son siècle, il traversa celui-ci sans jamais donner l'impression de faire le moindre effort pour plaire, en virevoltant sur les plus belles chansons du répertoire américain, le sourire aux lèvres, et dans ses bras, les stars les plus gracieuses, de Ginger Rogers . Rita Hayworth et Cyd Charisse. Le présent album nous fait revivre, à travers une trentaine de comédies musicales, le plus clair de sa brillante carrière à la scène et à l'écran.
