The Story:
Born and raised in the Watts projects of Los Angeles, twelve-year-old female boxer Meryland Gonzalez fights in-and-out of the ring for the dream to be crowned the 2019 Junior Olympics champion.

The Score:
“When we first discussed the soundtrack with Gabriel, it seemed like a good idea to approach the music as an indie band would. Little did we know that we would be recording a 50 piece orchestra later that year. As we follow this incredible young woman, struggling to make it to the junior olympics despite the tragedy she goes through, we hear the soundtrack shifting from very intimate and soft textures, to powerful waves.” – PHAR

The Composer:
Raphaël Dargent (PHAR) graduated from the USC Screen Scoring master program for which he received the Harry Warren Scholarship. He was also admitted into the Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society. He has scored over 20 feature and documentary shorts in the past five years. His feature film debut, L’instant présent, directed by Florian Hessique, has been released by MovieScore Media.
