Emmy-award winning composer Jim Dooley is a graduate of New York University. Upon completion of his degree, he moved to Los Angeles to study the art of film composing with such prolific scoring legends as Christopher Young, Elmer Bernstein and Leonard Rosenman. He joined Media Ventures (now Remote Control Productions) in 1999 and began collaboration with the world-renowned Hans Zimmer on Gladiator and as an additional composer, arranger and orchestrator on such notable features as The Da Vinci Code, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, The Ring, Tears of the Sun, King Arthur, Ridley Scott's Hannibal and Black Hawk Down. Jim also worked on several animated feature scores such as Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Madagascar 1 and 2, its spin-off short Madagascar Penguins in A Christmas Caper and the academy-award winning Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

In terms of solo ventures, Dooley's most ambitious projects to date have been scoring all episodes of the critically-acclaimed ABC series 'Pushing Daisies' for which he received his first Emmy Award in 2008 for Best Original Music Composition for a Series, followed by a Hollywood Music Award as well. Jim also scored the thriller Obsessed starring Beyonce Knowles, and an original score to Simon West's remake of the cult-classic-thriller When a Stranger Calls. Jim's expertise in other mediums can be found in the complex, interactive scores for best-selling videogame titles such as Infamous, NERF: N-Strike, Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier, SOCOM 3: U.S. Navy Seals, U.S. Navy Seals: Combined Assault. He also fully scored the German animated release Urmel aus dem Eis ('Impy's Island') and it's sequel, DreamWorks Animation's musically acclaimed short First Flight, and worked closely with director Fred Savage on the theatrical sequel Daddy Day Camp. Jim has also recently provided scores for episodes of ABC television series, 'What About Brian', Disney's video hit Little Mermaid 3: Ariel's Beginning, and his first amusement park attraction score for the Simpsons ride at Universal Studios. He is currently experimenting with both song and lyrics for Dorothy of Oz, the highly-anticipated animated sequel to the timeless classic Wizard of Oz; composing the comical music for TBS’ animated “Neighbors from Hell”; and an all-new interactive score for Disney’s latest interactive adventure Epic Mickey.
One of the best-selling composers for licensed music via his 'Position Music' series, Dooley's original songs can be heard in the theatrical trailers for Elf, Man on Fire, the Da Vinci Code, Harry Potter: the Goblet of Fire, Spiderman 3, District 9 and many more. Known for his interest and expertise in many mediums and genres, other projects include many well known commercial spots, sports programming ventures, and the ground-breaking documentary Mars Underground. Dooley currently resides in Malibu, California.
