La-La Land Records en Paramount Pictures hebben de score voor Paramount Pictures’ horror sequel Friday The 13th Part VIII – Jason Takes Manhattan (1989) uitgebracht. De hoofdrollen worden vertolkt door Todd Caldecott, Tiffany Paulsen en Kane Hodder in een regie van Rob Hedden.
De muziek is geschreven door componist Fred Mollin (Friday The 13th Part VIII, Friday The 13th: The Series). Dit is de eerste Friday the 13th film waarvoor de muziek niet geschreven is door Harry Manfredini. Mollin zorgt voor een volledig nieuw geluid en stijl in de Friday the 13th reeks.
Mollin's muziek is een mix tussen industrial percussie, synth pads, rhythmic looping, synthesized strijkers en houtblazers.
Naast de score staan ook de 4 songs uit de film op dit album zijnde“The Darkest Side of the Night”, “Broken Dream,” “J.J.’s Blues” en “Livin’ In The City,”.
Deze release is geproduceerd door Dan Goldwasser en Fred Mollin. De mastering was in handen van James Nelson die de componist zijn eigen master tapes mocht gebruiken.
Brian Satterwhite, schrijver, componist en auteur van het boek “The Music of Friday The 13th, dat binnenkort uitkomt, zorgde voor de in-depth liner notes, (inclusief met commentaren van Mollin en songwriter Stan Meissner). De cover is ontworpen door Dan Goldwasser. In totaal zullen er 2000 exemplaren verkrijgbaar zijn.
