2nd Annual Society of Composers & Lyricists Awards

The winners of the 2nd Annual SCL Awards were announced, Tuesday, March 2, 2021 during a virtual ceremony hosted by composer Michael Giacchino.

The winners of the 2nd Annual SCL Awards were announced, Tuesday, March 2, 2021 during a virtual ceremony hosted by composer Michael Giacchino. The awards consist of 5 competitive categories voted on by members of the Society of Composers and Lyricists as well as an honorary award chosen by the SCL Awards Committee.

For their music for Soul (Pixar), Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and Jon Batiste have received the SCL Award in the Outstanding Original Score in a Studio Film category.

Other composers nominated in the category were:

James Newton Howard (News of the World),
Ludwig Göransson (Tenet),
Terence Blanchard (Da 5 Bloods)
Reznor and Ross were also nominated for their score for Mank.

In the Outstanding Original Song for Visual Media category, Savan Kotecha, Fat Max Gsus and Rickard Goransson won the SCL Award for the song Husavik from Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.
Carlos Rafael Rivera won the prize in the Outstanding Original Score for a Television Production for The Queen’s Gambit.
Lolita Ritmanis won the award in the Outstanding Original Score for an Independent Film category, for drama Blizzard of Soul.
Garry Schyman and Mikolai Stroinski won for the video game Metamorphis and composer Terence Blanchard and Spike Lee received the 2021 Spirit of Collaboration Award for year 2021!
