It is with great pleasure that JAY Records present the release of the new solo recording of the great opera star, Marilyn Hill Smith, and the follow up to her acclaimed solo recording on TER ‘Is It Really Me?’ (CDVIR 8314)

This new recording ‘It Is Really Me’ features Marilyn’s distinctive and noticeably personal take on many of the songs from the great musicals, many of which have been distinctive landmarks of her own career. They take us right up to the modern day with her version of ‘Climb Every Mountain’ from The Sound Of Music, which she is currently starring in alongside Jason Donovan.

A star of opera from a young age Marilyn Hill Smith has been a principal company member of both the English National Opera and The Sadlers Wells Opera, taking leads in ‘Die Fledermaus’, ‘The Gypsy Princess’, ‘Candide’ amongst others. She also starred in the TV Series ‘Top C’s and Tiaras’ which gave her the opportunity to move between the opera and musical theatre, something she continues to do to this day.

This recording features songs from the musicals cannon that Marilyn has chosen as personal favourites and includes songs from ‘My Fair Lady’, ‘The Student Prince’, Oklahoma!’, ‘Candide’, ‘The Dancing Years’ and many many more, performed with The National Symphony Orchestra and The Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by John Owen Edwards and produced by John Yap.
