Biografía (Biografía sólo disponible en inglés) (Actualizado 2010-01-30)

Strongly influenced as a child by Carl Stalling's expressive musical scores from the original Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck cartoons of the 1940s and 1950s, Richard Stone is best known as the composer for well over 100 cartoons since his earliest compositions for Tiny Toon Adventures in 1991.

He was born in Philadelphia, PA, and music was in the family: Stone's father played piano for a living and his maternal grandfather was a music critic for the Philadelphia Inquirer. After studying cello and music theory at Indiana University and the Curtis Institute, Stone worked as a music editor on such films as Platoon (1986) (one of numerous films in which Stone worked with composer Georges Delerue), Pretty in Pink (1986), and Crimes of the Heart (1986). Soon moving on to compose music for films including Sundown (1989) and Pumpkinhead (1988), Stone put his childhood love of merry melodies to use, reviving the Stalling tradition of visually expressive, fully orchestrated scores in the Steven Spielberg-produced Tiny Toon Adventures. The winner of seven Emmys, including three daytime Emmys for his contributions to Freakazoid, Animaniacs, and Histeria!, in 2000 Stone was also nominated for an Annie for his contributions to Wakko's Wish.

After an extended battle with pancreatic cancer, the creativity and zaniness of Richard Stone's loony tunes died along with their creator at his West Hills, CA, home. He was 47.
