The sequel to 1970’s The Railway Children is set 40 years after the events of the original !
Set in rural England against the backdrop of WW2 when children are flooding into the countryside to escape the bombing of industrial cities.
With the help of Bobbie Waterbury (Jenny Agutter), a group of young evacuees are taken into her rural home and begin to settle into their new life. But when the children encounter a young soldier who, like them, is far away from home, a true adventure ensues….
About Edward Farmer
Edward Farmer is a Composer for Film & Television, an experienced Orchestra Conductor, Music Director, Orchestrator and Arranger. He produces cinematic music, drawing upon a wide range of musical influences, a wealth of experience, and a love of storytelling.
Most recently Ed has scored The Railway Children Return [music by Edward Farmer & Martin Phipps] for Studiocanal, dir. Morgan Matthews, which is due for release in July 2022. A sequel to the 1970 film, The Railway Children, the film follows a group of children who are evacuated to a Yorkshire village during the Second World War.
Over the past decade Ed's has work has spanned major motion pictures, high-end television drama, and cutting edge factual. Other recent projects include sci-fi feature Beyond Existence dir. Schuman Hoque, The Crown (Season 3 & 4) [Netflix], Julia For 'RBG' filmmakers Julie Cohen and Betsy West, Venice Film Festival nominated Kingdom Come, The Dark Crystal [Netflix], The Bad Guys [Dreamworks], Birds of Prey [Warner Bros], Shallow for Emmy award-winning William Bridges, Race Across the World [BBC], The World's Most Extraordinary Homes (BBC/Netflix), Bridgerton [Netflix], SAS Red Notice (Lionsgate), Great Escapists [Amazon], DNA Family Secrets [BBC/Minnow Films].
In addition to his work in film & television, Ed has composed for the Royal Opera House, West End Theatre, touring theatre productions including the 25th Anniversary Tour of Stepping Out, contributed arrangements to Decca’s ‘Bond 25’ album recorded at Abbey Road with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and conducted orchestras including London Philharmonic Orchestra, Budapest Festival Orchestra, and the Polish National Radio Symphony. He was nominated for the European Soundtrack Award at the Soundtrack Cologne Festival.
Ed grew up in Yorkshire, studied at the Royal College of Music, London, graduating with a Master's Degree in Composition for Screen.
