The Secret: Dare to Dream
Soundtrack by George Fenton
Written by multi award winning composer, George Fenton, the soundtrack to Andy Tennant’s recent film, The Secret: Dare to Dream is out now.
The film, based on the multi million selling book by Rhonda Byrne is about the power of ttraction and the belief that thoughts can change a person’s life.
The Secret, directed by Andy Tennant was due for release at the beginning of 2020 but was an early victim of the pandemic and finally arrived via pay per view in the Summer last year.
It proved tremendously popular with audiences worldwide and took the top spot on Netflix at the end of 2020.
‘This is the 8th film I've scored for my friend, Andy Tennant’ says Fenton. ‘His films always find their audience because of his great understanding of tone. It's always a pleasure to contribute in that way. The film is very low key, about an ordinary family going through hard times and the unusual way out for them’.
He added ‘One of the things about the score for a film is that it should always tell the truth. It should never try to blindside or hoodwink the audience because if the emotional heartbeat of the film is within the music or reflected in the music, the music has to be trusted by the audience.’
Fenton has scored well over a hundred films and has won multiple BAFTA, Emmy and Ivor Novello awards as well as five Oscar nominations.
A few of his best known films are Groundhog Day, Gandhi, Dangerous Liaisons, Hitch, You’ve Got Mail and among his many associations with directors his work with British film maker Ken Loach is most significant - currently standing at seventeen films together.
He also scored the original Blue Planet, Frozen Planet and Planet Earth series along with theatre work including plays at the Royal Shakespeare Company, The National Theatre and recently at the new Bridge Theatre in London.
