Music Box Records proudly presents the premiere CD release of two original motion picture soundtracks co-composed by Serge Gainsbourg and Jean-Claude Vannier in 1969: Les Chemins de Katmandou (The Pleasure Pit, directed by André Cayatte) and Paris n’existe pas (Paris Does Not Exist, directed by Robert Benayoun).

These both scores feature exquisite Vannier’s signature as a musical laboratory with often mysterious harmonies: thick plucked bass lines, close-mic’ed drums, discordant trumpets, Arabic-style strings, ethnical music, biting Clavinet, prepared piano, harpsichord, percussion and marimba.

This album also features the remastered and expanded edition of Jean-Claude Vannier’s original motion picture score to the 1983 drama La Bęte noire (The Black Beast) directed by Patrick Chaput. The score is a darker exploration of free jazz, frenzied batucadas and cyclic carousel psychedelia.

This present edition has been fully remastered from the master tapes courtesy of Vannier's archives. For Paris n’existe pas, in spite of the less-than-ideal sound quality, it was the only surviving material provided for this CD release.

The CD comes with a 8-page booklet with liner notes by Nicolas Magenham, discussing the films and the scores.

This is a limited edition of 350 units.
