The Claus Family

KeepMoving Records presents the physical release of The Claus Family, the latest yuletide release by Anne-Kathrin Dern.

KeepMoving Records presents the physical release of The Claus Family, the latest yuletide release by Anne-Kathrin Dern.

Co-written and directed by Matthias Temmermans, the Belgian-produced Christmas adventure focuses on a young boy named Jules (Mo Bakker), who hates Christmas following the death of his father.

But he then discovers his grandfather is Santa Claus (Jan Decleir) and he is next in line to carry on the family business…

Once again, composer Anne-Kathrin Dern delivers her giftbag of lushly orchestrated beautiful themes and a heaping helping of Christmas-time cheer we all need these days. To complement the physical release, a digital release is available from MovieScore Media.

“The Claus Family isn’t your average feel-good Christmas movie,” promises composer Anne-Kathrin Dern. “It’s a profound story about grief and loss during times of Holidays. We go on a journey with this family trying to find their Christmas spirit again. The score very much tries to capture that struggle and alternates between isolating melancholy, exhilarating adventure, hopeful warmth, and Christmas joy. The FAME’S Macedonian Symphony Orchestra’s marvelous performance only enhances those emotions.”

Born in Eutin, Germany, Anne-Kathrin Dern graduated from the UCLA Film Scoring program. She started out working as a sample developer and percussion library programmer before getting her first mock-up commission on the Alan Menken/Christopher Lennertz medieval comedy Galavant. As a composer, her traditionally melodic writing can be enjoyed in a variety of children’s adventure films as well as in her collaborations with Klaus Badelt, most notably on the 3D animated ballerina movie Leap! (2016). Dern’s other available soundtracks include The Jade Pendant (2017), Help, I Shrunk My Parents (2018), The Legend of the War Horse (2018) and Dern’s other Christmas-theme offering, Lilly’s Bewitched Christmas (2017).
