Album release date: October 16, 2020.
Based on a true story, The Mountain Minor follows a poor Appalachian family as they leave their beloved mountain home in search of work during the Great Depression.
The film depicts one way in which old-time mountain music spread across the United States in the early 20th century.
When casting the film, writer-director Dale Farmer decided to use professional old-time musicians instead of actors, with the intention of portraying the characters' on-screen musical performances as realistically as possible.
The film garnered awards in several festivals and received critical praise, with the Asheville Citizen-Times calling it 'a major win for Appalachian stories.' The soundtrack album features 39 tracks of original and traditional songs as well as background music by composer Trevor McKenzie.
Written and directed by Dale Farmer. Produced by Susan Pepper. Album produced by Scott Young and Keyth Neso.
The movie is available on Blu-ray, DVD, Vimeo on Demand and Amazon Prime. The soundtrack album is available through Amazon and most digital platforms as of October 16, 2020.
