Composer John Gürtler releases original score to 'System Crasher', European Original Score 2019 in Berlin. The film is still running in German, Hungarian, Finnish and Irish theaters, and will be released in Poland (24/01/20), Netherlands (27/02/20), France and Belgium (04/03/20).

The European Film Academy and EFA Productions awarded John Gürtler win the European Original Score 2019 during the 32nd European Film Awards, in Berlin on December 7th.

According to the jury: 'The music in 'System Crasher' is modern, virtuosic, impulsive and surprising. John Gürtler has transformed the unspeakable into music. Where words are no longer possible, his film music manages to function as a non-verbal language, reflecting the inside of the protagonist and carrying the viewer along with it.'

'System Crasher''s Original Score has been acclaimed by several critics and John Gürtler has even been listed among the 10 European Talents to watch by the Hollywood Reporter. All this lead to the film team creating a crowdfunding campaign in order to produce a limited vinyl release.

'The U.K.-born composer — of Portuguese and German parentage — has steadfastly avoided conventional sounds and approaches in his work, combining electronic with orchestral music and finding ways to unify a film's score, sound and source music.

Nora Fingscheidt's impressive debut feature previously won the Alfred Bauer Silver Bear Prize at this year's Berlin International Film Festival. The psychological drama has furthermore been chosen as Germany's representative for the International Feature Film Award at the 92nd Oscars and was nominated for the 'Best Film' category at the European Film Awards.
The film's main actress, Helena Zengel in the role of Benni, was also nominated for European Actress 2019.

System Crasher is written and directed by Nora Fingscheidt with Helena Zengel, Albrecht Schuch, Gabriela Maria Schmeide, Lisa Hagmeister and Melanie Straub.

She is small, but dangerous. Wherever Benni ends up, she is immediately expelled. The wild 9-year-old girl has already become what child protection services call a “system crasher”. And she is certainly not looking to change her ways.
Because Benni has one single goal: to be back at home with her mommy! But Bianca is scared of her own daughter. Mrs Bafané from child protection services is trying her best to find a permanent placement for Benni.
She hires the anger management trainer Micha as Benni’s school escort and suddenly there is a seed of hope. Will Micha be able to succeed where all others despaired? ...
