Lakeshore Records presents the soundtrack album for the drama The King. The album contains the film’s music composed by Academy Award nominee Nicholas Britell.

The soundtrack is released digitally November 1, 2019 and is available to stream and download on Amazon.

The King is directed by David Michôd and co-written by Michôd and Edgerton with Timothée Chalamet, Joel Edgerton, Sean Harris, Ben Mendelsohn, Robert Pattinson and Lily-Rose Depp. The movie had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 2, 2019.

Hal (Timothée Chalamet), wayward prince and reluctant heir to the English throne, has turned his back on royal life and is living among the people. But when his tyrannical father dies, Hal is crowned King Henry V and is forced to embrace the life he had previously tried to escape. Now the young king must navigate the palace politics, chaos and war his father left behind, and the emotional strings of his past life — including his relationship with his closest friend and mentor, the ageing alcoholic knight, John Falstaff (Joel Edgerton)...

The incredible music heard in the period drama comes courtesy of Britell, who is a powerhouse in the film industry. He’s the man that has been nominated for Oscars for his two collaborations with filmmaker Barry Jenkins, “Moonlight” and “If Beale Street Could Talk,”
– Charles Barfield, The Playlist -

“I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with Nicholas Britell. I wanted The King’s score to be rich and classic and full, but also unusual, otherworldly. Nick’s talent, deep musical knowledge and especially his unique voice, made him the perfect fit.”
– David Michôd -
