Chicago, the bitter, brilliant Broadway musical first seen in 1975, featuring a score by John Kander (music) and Fred Ebb (lyrics) and book by Ebb and the late Bob Fosse (the show's original director/choreographer) - at once celebrates and satirises certain very modern values. And now, with Thomas Z. Shepard's sparkling recording of this wonderful 1997 London company led by Ute Lemper, Ruthie Henshall, Nigel Planer (The Young Ones) and Henry Goodman, prepare to be seduced in your own home, as you enter a world of murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery and treachery.
The musical Chicago will be revived in London this March with previews beginning March 26 at the Phoenix Theatre. Cuba Gooding Jr. is starring as Billy Flynn for the first 14 weeks of the run and the show is booked for 41 weeks at this theater (to the end of '18).
The 20th anniversary edition of Chicago The 1997 Musical London Cast is available on vinyl for the first time. The first pressing of 500 numbered copies is available on red vinyl.
