Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance - 01/10 - Review of Chris R., submitted at
A sequel to Ghost Rider was eventually inevitable regardless if anybody really wanted it or not. But besides the fact that they made a sequel, not retaining Christopher Young as composer was probably not a wise choice considering he was probably the best thing about that movie.

David Sardy took the reigns and gave us a crash course in how to totally destroy a franchise musically. I must state that they made the movie look like a kind of Dark Knight and the score kind of takes it in that direction but only it is worse.

Totally abandoning the theme created by Young; Sardy gives us a kind of a guitar theme backed by the droning of a motorcycle that ultimately leads us into several shorter cues that border, oh hell I'll just say it: sound design. I can kind of understand that while it may work in the movie; it didn't. So the film leaves an impression that this film could have had something great but it didn't. It leaves you wondering how Young could create something great in 15 cues while Sardy couldn't do it in 41.

In the end you get a soundtrack of nothing more than sound designs that will leave you feeling as if you had been pulled through hell.
